Box plots are a type of map that deal with ranges. Box plots show ranges in percentiles such as the 25th, the 50th, and 75th percentile as well as the mean. From a box plot one can also derive the median. From this one can see how skewed the data is as well as the overall distribution. The box plot above shows the average power output per day in July.
