Thematic maps that try to portray a particular theme and how it is connected to a particular region. Themes can range from social and political to agricultural and environmental. Thematic maps provide information about the region or location they are portraying while they can be used to compare different patterns on different maps. There are also different ways to portray thematic maps which are choropleth mapping, proportional, dot, and isopleth mapping. The map above show the economic activity on the island of Trinidad and the various forms of industry found on the island. It qualifies as a thematic map as it is showing a particular theme in economic activity and showing how it works in the country.
