Proportional Circle Maps

http://www.creativeclass.com/_v3/creative_class/2009/08/21/the-stimulus-maps/

Proportional circle maps use circles in proportion to the amount or value given. Hence the bigger the amount the bigger the circle and vice-versa. Proportional circle maps are also called range-graded maps. The map above shows the amount of TARP funds dispersed to each of the 50 states. Some got none (thus no circle) awhile others received a sizable chunk (thus bigger circles). I chose proportional circle maps because they easily tell the audience what is being measured in a relatively simple manner.
