Hypsometric maps use gradients (a form of shading) and relief tints to show the varying form of elevation on a map. The map above shows the country of Spain and the elevations present within the countries with the higher ones which would represent mountains and those types of landforms and the lowers ones being valleys. The color scale is evident and present on the right hand side of the map sea-foam green being around sea level and the highest represented by a purplish color.
